Veteran reporter, Catherine Herridge, has been in the news lately. Of course, the US MSM has most people fixated on the 2024 election already so stories like this are flying under the radar.
For those of you not familiar with Catherine Herridge, she is/was an American journalist who served as a senior investigative correspondent for CBS News in Washington D.C. from 2019 to 2024.
She was recently held in contempt for not revealing a source involving a story from 2017 and she was abruptly let go by CBS news. She typically covers stories involving national security and intel, like the mysterious Durham investigation.
Her files were raided by the FBI and she has people posing as her on Facebook and other social media outlets, making false statements. To put it mildly, she is under attack.
Even the House Judiciary committee launched a formal investigation into her firing from CBS News in late February.
The committee said it also wants to know why her confidential files were “seized” as part of the termination.
“The unprecedented actions of CBS News threaten to chill good journalism and ultimately weaken our nation’s commitment to a free press,” the letter stated.
When an individual reporter comes under this much scrutiny, you can conclude only one thing. She must be hovering directly over the target. What do we mean? She must be in a position to reveal a whole bunch of damning information that someone needed to stop. Plainly stated, her work as a reporter is being censored and she is being shut down. But why?
Ms. Herridge’s signature reporting style often displays a pen or highlighter laying on a piece of paper. You can see this for yourself by visiting her X/Twitter page. Here are just two examples.
She is now an independent reporter, separate from CBS. It will be quite interesting to see what she has to say moving forward. We encourage our subscribers to pay close attention to Catherine Herridge. Watch closely to see the stories and information she chooses to point her pen towards or “highlight with a sharpie” moving forward.
We are all wise to “follow the pen,” so to speak, of as many independent reporters as possible. As always, we encourage you to follow people like Emerald Robinson, who walked away from her White House correspondent role with Fox to pursue reporting independently. Emerald Robinson concludes her posts occasionally on Substack with these words.
I’ve got your back. Do you have mine?
Please keep following independent reporters. Please continue to support the work of independent Substack contributors. Please keep sharing independent journalist content with friends on other social media outlets. These are MUST HAVES right now as we are ALL living in what we refer to as the “wide world of censorship.” Or if you prefer, a “wild world of censorship” in which certain facts are deemed dangerous or off limits. Catherine Herridge states it correctly in her X bio - facts matter. Facts are to be reported on to keep the citizenry informed. If free speech continues to be squelched, our society as we know it will not survive.
We sincerely thank you for following our pen at The Fruited Plain, and we beg you to continue to share and shine the light on our posts and the posts of the many other independents who are working diligently, every day, to keep the American people informed. Independent reporters and substackers, like us, only survive and thrive by growing our subscriber base. Thank you for supporting our work!
