With all the attention being given to LEAP day on 2/29, we thought it would be “timely” to share a few thoughts on past and present calendars.
Have you ever wondered why we operate on a 12 month calendar that includes 365 days, but requires a “reset” every 4 years with an added day? Does this seem a little odd to you? Some of you may remember this saying that was utilized by many to remember the days in each month.
30 days hath September, April, June, and November. February has 28 alone and all the rest have 31. (120+28+217=365)
Do “LEAP” years take us “back into rhythm” or “out of rhythm,” so to speak? And if we need to add an extra day every year, why can’t we do it in June or July during summer break from school? February is considered by many to be one of the least “favorite” months of the year so it makes no sense to add a day of suffering through another cold, dark, dreary day in February.
Have you also wondered about the months? Our calendar months are oddly named as the 9th month starts with the prefix “SEPT.” SEPT means 7, not 9.
Inherited from Middle French sept, from Old French set, from Latin septem (“seven”), from Proto-Indo-European *septḿ̥.
Was September named correctly as the 7th month of the calendar year or was this just another oversight errantly calling it the 9th month?
The same could be said for October. “OCT” means 8, like the word octagon. Why is October the 10th month?
The same could be said for November. "NOV" comes from the Latin word for nine so why isn't November the 9th month rather than the 11th?
And the same could be said for December. “DEC” is Latin for the number ten. A decathlon has 10 track and field events. Why is December our 12th month?
Those claiming to be more learned on this topic are of the mindset that our calendar was always meant to operate on a 28 day cycle. We are merely amateurs on this fairly complex topic, but apparently a 28 day monthly cycle would align closely to the 28 lunar cycles, creating 13 “perfect moon” months. Take a peek at how this would look with a 13 month calendar with 28 days in each month.
Observers way more astute than our team suggest that a turtle’s back clearly displays a 28 day calendar with 13 months. Does God’s creation give us a clear road map for our annual calendar on a turtle’s back? We report, you decide.
The calendar we have been describing is more formally referred to as the international fixed calendar. This 13 month x 28 day model dates back to at least 1775 and would create a 364+1 day calendar year with 13 months of 28 days and one “free” day every year. Interestingly, it looks like the “free” day was meant to be April 1 (or March 29) - a day to remember the resurrection of Jesus. Do you think members of a Satanic cult could allow people to observe a day of worship and thanksgiving to the Creator God like this every year? Our team is thinking that they may have felt eagerly compelled to change up this rhythm to life.
This article appeared in print on this topic in 1928.
In 1931, the League of Nations invited all nations to adopt this “simplified” calendar during an international conference.
The world very nearly adopted a calendar with 13 months of 28 days (11/4/23)
In the aftermath of World War I, delegates from dozens of countries met at a League of Nations conference in Geneva hoping to create a universal calendar that would unite the world.
Allow us to digress for just a minute. While researching this topic, our team found it interesting that Ethiopia actually uses a solar calendar so it is currently the year 2015 in Ethiopia. Weird, huh?
The Ethiopian calendar is a solar calendar that also depends on the birth of Christ, peace be upon him, as well as the Gregorian calendar, but it is about 8 years behind it, so the current year in Ethiopia is 2015.
The Ethiopian calendar has twelve months, all thirty days long, and five or six epagomenal days, which form a thirteenth month.[2] The Ethiopian months begin on the same days as those of the Coptic calendar, but their names are in Ge'ez.
Who cares about Ethiopia’s calendar, right? Well, Ethiopia just joined BRICS as of 1/1/24 so they seem to be up to speed on world economics, despite being 8 or 9 years “behind the times” with their calendar.
So let’s work backwards with the names of the months on our current 12 month calendar, assuming September was to be the 7th month. The 6th month would then be August. The 5th month would be July. The 4th month would be June. The 3rd month would be May. The 2nd month would be April. And finally, the 1st month would end up being March.
However, it is good to note that a month named “SOL” was to be added to create a 13 month calendar. SOL means the “sun.”
Based on our limited research on this topic, the month of SOL was to fit between June and July. Thinking logically, it makes total sense that the month of SOL would be included between June and July during peak summer sunshine.
The summer SOLstice also makes a little more sense. Working backwards with SOL added, April would be the first month of the year.
Is it possible that we have all been led to believe a complete farce about April 1? What meaning have we as Americans been conditioned to believe to be true for April 1? April fool’s day - it’s a “joke.” Was April 1 meant to be a day of rest, reflecting on God’s grace and thanking Him for bringing us through another year? Was April 1 meant to be our New Years day?
Our team is starting to wonder how deep the mass censorship runs. Stated more directly, our team is wondering how far would an evil group of Satanic elites or a Zionist regime go to rob “We The People” of our normal, God-given rhythm to life made possible through our annual calendar? Let’s reflect with a brief Q &A.
Question: Do you often feel like things are starting fresh and anew right around Easter or in the spring?
Answer: Yes, every year it feels this way as the flowers start to bloom.
Question: Even though professional golfers do compete in the months of January through March, when does the golf season officially begin in the mind of most golf enthusiasts?
Answer: The Masters golf tournament is considered by most to be the official start of the golf season, held annually every year on the first weekend in April.
Question: Does it ALWAYS feel like summer vacation is rushed, as if we never have enough time to fit things in?
Answer: Yes, the best time of year for families to connect and just “be together” feels rushed and cut short every year.
Wouldn’t life be great if we could all just slow down to a turtle’s pace, like some families are able to enjoy one week annually during summer vacation?
Days, years, light, and darkness are “boring” topics to us, but they mattered to God when He was creating the world. Why do these things not matter to modern day Americans? These “boring” details seemed to matter to a lot of people in 1775.
Here is what the Bible has to say on this topic of days and years, quoting from the first book of Genesis 1:13-18 (NIV).
13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
